Europe: Convective rainfall
Convective Rainfall Rate (CRR) is one of the EUMESAT ‘s (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) SAF NWC (Satellite Application Facility on support to Nowcasting) products. The National Observatory of Athens has installed and operates the 2013 version, since 2015.
CRR is estimated every 15 minutes, using imagery from the geostationary meteorological satellite Meteosat and auxiliary data from the non-hydrological numerical model WRF v3.6.1 (Weather Research and Forecasting Model). CRR is an instant parameter, providing the convective rainfall rate of the 15 minutes that follow the nominal time of the satellite image.
