Europe: Convective rainfall

Convective Rainfall Rate (CRR) is one of the EUMESAT ‘s (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) NWC SAF (Satellite Application Facility on support to Nowcasting) products. The National Observatory of Athens has installed and operates the 2016 version.
CRR is estimated every 15 minutes, using imagery from the geostationary meteorological satellite Meteosat and auxiliary data from the non-hydrostatic numerical model WRF v3.6.1 (Weather Research and Forecasting Model). CRR is an instant parameter, providing an estimation of the convective rainfall rate at the time of the satellite image.
